An 11-year-old boy is currently in intensive care following a severe tram accident in south Manchester. Travis Ashe was hit by a Metrolink tram at the Crossacres stop on Brownley Road in Wythenshawe last Tuesday afternoon, sustaining life-altering injuries. Emergency services, including an air ambulance, police, firefighters, and paramedics, quickly responded to the scene and transported Travis to the hospital. The area was sealed off for investigation overnight.
Travis’ parents, Simon and Claire, provided an update on GoFundMe, stating that their son is in the ICU in a medically induced coma, undergoing multiple surgeries for his injuries. They expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and love received from well-wishers.
The Cheshire North West Schoolboy Scramble Club initiated an online fundraiser to assist Travis and his family during his hospitalization. Helen Reid, a family friend who organized the campaign, mentioned the challenging road ahead due to Travis’ injuries, emphasizing the importance of support from the motocross community.
To date, over £7,000 has been raised through GoFundMe, with further contributions welcomed online. Investigations into the incident are ongoing, with Transport for Greater Manchester collaborating with relevant authorities. Greater Manchester Police encourages witnesses, especially those with footage, to come forward and provide information by contacting the specified channels.
