“Man Denies 30-Year-Old Girl’s Murder Arrest”

Must Read

A man has refuted accusations of killing a young girl over 30 years following the discovery of her body in a canal. West Yorkshire Police provided an update on the Lindsay Rimer case from 1994, stating that a man was apprehended at an undisclosed UK prison by the Police Homicide and Major Enquiry Team.

Thirteen-year-old Lindsay disappeared after visiting a shop in Hebdon Bridge, West Yorkshire, to purchase cornflakes in November 1994. She was last seen at a local store on Crown Street after stopping at the Trades Club on Holme Street to collect money from her mother. Surveillance footage captured Lindsay buying cereal before leaving the store at 10:23 pm. Her absence was reported to the authorities the next day when she failed to show up for her paper route. Tragically, her body was found five months later in a canal about a mile away from her residence.

Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle, the Senior Investigating Officer, released a statement confirming that the arrested man was already serving a sentence for other crimes. He expressed the commitment to pursuing justice for Lindsay and providing her family with the closure they seek after all these years. The statement emphasized the ongoing investigation’s progress and assured that despite the public interest generated by the recent arrest, no immediate developments were expected.

Despite the decades passed since Lindsay’s murder, the investigation team remains convinced that someone possesses crucial information that could help alleviate her family’s anguish. Authorities urge anyone with relevant details to contact the police via 101 quoting Operation Posemill, or anonymously reach out to Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111 or leave a message at 07707 147314.
