Toto Wolff Supports Wife Susie at Book Launch

Must Read

Mercedes F1 team principal Toto Wolff made a rare appearance at London’s Lyceum Theatre to support his wife, Susie, instead of attending the Mexico City Grand Prix. Susie, who recently launched her memoir titled “Driven,” shared her inspiring journey in front of a crowd of 2,000 attendees, recounting her rise from the Scottish Highlands to the pinnacle of motorsport.

Prior to this event, Wolff had participated in the Autosport Business Exchange in New York. Susie’s racing career began at the age of eight in karting, eventually progressing to Formula Renault in 2001. Despite facing challenges such as an ankle injury during her first Formula 3 season with Alan Docking Racing, Susie persevered and continued to excel.

From 2006 to 2012, Susie competed in DTM with Mucke Motorsport and later Persson before transitioning to become a development driver for Williams in Formula 1. Notably, she made history as the first woman to participate in a Formula 1 weekend in over two decades during the 2014 British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

After retiring from Formula 1 in 2015, Susie took on the role of a brand ambassador for Mercedes and currently serves as Team Principal for Venturi Racing in Formula E. Additionally, she manages the all-female racing series, F1 Academy. While absent from the Mexico City GP, Wolff closely monitored his team’s performance.

Mercedes faced a challenging race in Mexico, with Kimi Antonelli finishing sixth, just ahead of George Russell. Lando Norris claimed victory for McLaren, followed by Charles Leclerc of Ferrari and Max Verstappen of Red Bull on the podium. In the Drivers’ standings, Russell is in fourth place with 258 points, trailing Norris by 99 points, while Antonelli occupies seventh place with 97 points.

In the Constructors’ standings, Mercedes holds third place with 355 points, closely behind Ferrari. However, McLaren leads with 713 points, secured through 13 victories and 30 podium finishes. The upcoming races will be crucial for Mercedes to improve their position in the standings.
