An elderly man passed away after experiencing a presumed medical emergency while driving his vehicle.
Merseyside Police reported that they responded to an incident on Longmoor Lane in Fazakerley, Liverpool, where a beige Ford Mondeo collided with a parked Mercedes.
Although the collision resulted in minor damage, the emergency services confirmed the man, aged 83, deceased at the scene due to a suspected medical issue.
Following the incident near Kirkdale cemetery, the gray Mercedes was cordoned off, leading to temporary road closures. However, normal traffic flow resumed after the police removed the vehicle.
Detective Sergeant Simon Duffy mentioned that the deceased man’s family has been notified and is receiving support from trained officers.
While there were no other vehicles involved in the crash except the parked car, investigations are ongoing, as stated by Detective Sergeant Simon Duffy.
He stated: “Our condolences are with the family of the deceased individual, and they are receiving assistance from specialized personnel.
“Initial indications suggest a medical episode occurred, and no other vehicles were implicated besides the stationary car. Nevertheless, we are conducting inquiries to confirm this and understand the circumstances surrounding the collision.
“We urge anyone who witnessed the incident this morning or possesses dashcam footage to contact us.”
Merseyside Police have called for witnesses to provide information, particularly seeking CCTV or dashcam recordings related to the event.
