A family residing in Squamish, British Columbia, narrowly avoided a construction mishap on Hamilton Street’s 1800 block, feeling fortunate to have emerged unscathed. Claire Johnstone, along with her young son and family, had a close call on August 11 when a scaffold collapsed near their car as they were leaving their hotel.
The incident startled Johnstone as the scaffold crashed down beside their vehicle, prompting her to quickly react to protect her child. With a glass roof on their car, Johnstone saw metal structures and debris hitting the vehicle, urging her husband to drive away from the collapsing scaffold.
Fearing for their safety, Johnstone and her family were in a state of panic during the ordeal. Despite the chaos, they managed to park the car and assess the situation after the close call.
Witnessing two injured men caught in the accident, Johnstone sought help from pedestrians to call emergency services as the area was cordoned off for investigation following the workplace accident.
Although the family left the scene to rush to the hospital for their son’s check-up, they later reviewed footage from their Tesla, revealing the severity of the situation they narrowly escaped.
