He invited Trump to visit Colombia to witness the country’s efforts in combating drug trafficking by shutting down drug laboratories on a daily basis.
Colombia stands as the world’s top cocaine producer, with a significant portion of the drug making its way to the US through Mexico and Central America. Despite historical ties, tensions between the US and Colombia have been strained, especially with Trump and President Petro holding differing views on various issues.
Recent clashes between the leaders include disagreements over deportations and military actions.
